Jobbik released its pre-election program, on January 16, 2010, and made crystal clear, that it would introduce open standards in government communications and make open source adoption mandatory, in the education system.
So, Hungarian open source developers rejoice, because good things will come to you, soon.
The following is a snippet from Jobbik's pre-election program; a rough translation follows.
“Nyílt forráskódú rendszereket és dokumentumformátumokat vezetünk be az állami szektorban, illetve támogatjuk elterjedésüket az állampolgárok és a gazdasági élet szereplői részére. Nyilvános állami információkat csak nyílt dokumentum formátumokban, illetve nyílt szabványokon keresztül hozzáférhető rendszereken tárolunk.
Nyílt, szabványos interfészt hozunk létre, amely lehetővé teszi külső alkalmazások számára az önkormányzati, adóhivatali, banki és az egyéb közérdekű rendszerekkel történő kommunikációt.
Az állami pénzből kifejlesztett önkormányzati célszoftvereket elérhetővé tesszük az összes önkormányzat részére, ezzel kiküszöbölve a párhuzamos és pazarló fejlesztéseket.
Ha egy feladatra van azonos funkcionalitású és birtoklási költségű zárt és nyílt forráskódú szoftver, akkor kötelezően a nyílt forráskódú szoftvert választjuk.
Minden iskolában a nyílt forráskódú rendszerek használatát oktatjuk az informatikai tantárgyak keretében”.
We are going to implement open standards in the public sector and will promote the spread of open source solutions among the general public and among businesses. Under these directives, government and public sector documents can be stored only, in open document formats, on systems running open standards applications.
We are going to develop open standard interfaces, in order to encourage municipalities, the tax department, the banking sector and public offices to use open source solutions.
We are going to supply government funded and developed applications for municipalities, nation wide, to eliminate parallel and wasteful developments.
When both proprietary and open source software will be available with the equal functionality to accomplish a particular task, we will make the use of open source solutions, mandatory.
We are going to implement open standards in the school system and will introduce open source computing as a subject in schools, under the discipline of computer sciences.
